Willing to FAIL with a mighty purpose

Have you ever tried to reframe rejection like this:

“Accept rejection as a grand indication that you’re trying.”

I know, it can be hard to see rejection as a good thing. We think:

– Why was I not good enough?
– Why do I deserve this?
– Am I not worthy?

But we rarely stop to ask:

– What if this isn't big enough for me?
– What if I deserve even more than this?
– What if this is teaching me about what's not aligned?

I remember when I applied to speak at SXSW. I took the time to write a speaking proposal and upload videos of me speaking.

I did not get accepted.

But what happened because I put myself out there was unexpected. One of the people reviewing the submissions ran another conference called BlogHer and invited me to speak there three times!

I got to speak on panels with Tara Mohr, author of Playing Big, and Rachel Hollis, author of Girl Wash Your Face.

So from one rejection, I received many opportunities to speak on stages even if it wasn’t the one I originally planned for or in the timeline I expected.

Are you willing to put yourself out there even if you might get rejected? Can you trust the process?
