Embracing rejection as redirection

This past weekend, I stayed in my pajamas all day Saturday and Sunday. My body really, really needed to slow down and do. absolutely. nothing.

I was so thankful to have my daughter make me a Mother’s Day breakfast with fresh apple compote (she proudly cut and cooked herself). We also took a dip in the pool. It’s crazy to think I’ve been a mom for 10+ years! My daughter was 18 months old when I started my first business in Kauai and now she’ll start middle school in a few months.

This spring + end of school year energy has me like whoa! In the past three months I’ve lead two retreats for my private clients and mastermind group; went to a retreat in Silicon Valley; vacationed in Iceland, Miami, Los Angeles, and Vancouver. That’s A LOT of going, going, going.

If you feel like you’ve been going, going, going too… I give you full permission to do. absolutely. nothing.

And I give you full permission to move a little slower and give yourself some extra space and compassion when you do go back into work mode.

How do you manage your expectations of success and setbacks?

This is a big question that comes up inside my Love Over Metrics mastermind group. As creative entrepreneurs, what do we do when things don’t work out the way we expected? The answer from today’s podcast guest: Embrace Rejection as Redirection. In today’s Lead with Love episode, I dive deeper into what that means for Amber Rae, the published author of: Choose Wonder over Worry.

Embracing Rejection as Redirection

“I’m actually to the point where I’m aiming for rejection, in a way, because I know it’s just going to bring me closer to my people.”

– AMBER RAE

In this episode, Amber Rae truly leans into this question through her curiosity with experiments –– not always knowing what the outcome will be on the other side. And one of those experiments we talk about is actually how she got her book deal.

We talk about anxiety in the workplace where she shares a powerful exercise that you can use right away. We also talk about how to manage our fears when it comes to disappointing others, how she decides what (and how much) to share on social media, how to make space for play, and so much more!
