Permission to speak your truth
I’ve had a book on my heart to share with the world for many, many years. I talked to a literary agent last Friday to explore making that dream a reality. 🤓
It’s why I said no to the second book deal on the table with Simple Green Smoothies (which I’m so excited will be published on September 11 with Jen and the rawkstar team).
I want the next book I write…
… to be the book that’s been pulling at my heartstrings. The one I want my daughter to read, so she knows anything is possible.
… to use my voice for good and to elevate those who are ready to use their voices too.
… to share the experiences, lessons, wisdom gained from building several businesses over the last ten years (brick and mortar, online e-commerce, an international keynote speaker + published author).
Is it possible for me too?
As an entrepreneur, I read many business books written by single, college educated white men (many of the stages I speak on look a lot like this too).
And there were times I questioned if what they shared was possible for me too. What I read in those books was instrumental to my growth, and I implemented the strategies I learned.
But there was always a part of me that was looking for someone who was a representation of me and had a similar background of being a mom, wife, and woman of color with no college degree.
I looked for mentors to show me proof of possibility.
I want to be that proof of possibility for someone else.
Privilege & Accessibility
I want the knowledge, resources, mentors I’ve had the privilege to have access to –– to be super accessible and affordable. And I believe the knowledge that lives in books is the best way to do that. It’s also why I have a podcast (check out my latest episode “Permission to Speak Your Truth” with Jasmine Star).
I want to continue exploring and sharing what it means to lead with love in life and business. And to show how values-led companies actually put that into practice when it comes to starting movements, growing communities, and building leaders and teams.
Because when we lead with love in business, we're able to make a profit and make a positive impact on people and the planet.
Our world needs LOVE more than ever.
I believe business is one vehicle to express LOVE in our day to day lives since we spend the majority of our time making a living to live more meaningful lives.
So I’m curious if you’ve been following my journey, what would you want to read in this book I’m going to write? Ideas are brewing… ✨
And if you’ve ever felt pressured to be more, do more and be something you weren’t, you don’t want to miss today’s episode of the Lead with Love Podcast. I get cozy with Jasmine Star who reminds us to speak our truth.
Jasmine dropped out of law school to pursue her dreams of being a photographer. In less than three years, she built an internationally recognized and award-winning business and has grown her social platforms to over 700,000 followers.
In this episode, Jasmine shares tangible strategies to create social conversations and build community online in an authentic way.
