Would you like help with your book?

Recently, I announced a retreat that I’m hosting alongside my business bestie, Jen Kem. Not only is Jen a close friend, but she’s also a top-notch, masterful marketer. We love supporting and collaborating together. It was so fun talking with Jen about my new book, She Builds.

This summer, Jen and I are joining forces in The Big Book Deal Retreat, happening in Florence, Italy! Swoon.

Many of you have reached out, wanting more details as you decide whether or not to make this happen. So I’d love to answer your questions! If you need help getting your book from your heart to the bookshelves, you won’t want to miss this. Trust me.

In this 3-day retreat, Jen and I will focus on three primary areas that book agents and publishers are looking at. And, of course, we’ll give you our experience and insider tips to make sure you don’t get stuck in any of these areas (like we did!).

  1. Platform – how many people do you have influence over? If your answer is zero or very little, this is the area that we’ll have to work on first. And it’s ok. You don’t need a big following, you need an engaged one. Book publishing is a business, so they need to see that you have a community that wants what you have. Jen is a marketing genius and will tell you, most people are making this harder than they need to.
  2. Proposal – this is your “sales page” – the holy grail document that lets a literary agent know that you’re going to be a star author for them. Lit agents work for commission, but it’s more important that they really believe in your story and solution. This is where lots of people get stuck! People will say, “your agent will help you write it,” but… how do you get an agent if you don’t have a proposal? Right?! No worries, we’ve got you. Jen and I will not only share our book proposals but will also show you how it gets picked up and sold.
  3. Publisher – Now, the meat of it all, the writing. The publisher has a deadline, and they want your manuscript (aka book) done so they can get it on the shelves. How do you start the writing process and avoid writing blocks? Glad you asked. I’ll share the powerful and effective techniques I used to write two bestselling books with multiple 6-figure book deals. I’ll also help you create a system that fits your own flow and creativity.

Finally, here are some questions that I’ve answered over the past week. I thought I’d share them with you just in case you were wondering too.

FAQs

When is the application deadline?
We are currently sold out!

Is this retreat more for people who are unfamiliar with the book industry but have the platform + message? Or people at all stages of the journey?
The retreat is for people at any stage of the book journey, but you must come in with a clear idea of what your book is about. Jen and I work with people who are experts in their field and are very seasoned, so you’ll be surrounded by really amazing and inspiring people.

Will this be a small group or a larger one?
It will be an intimate group of 10-15 people.

How much hot seat/1:1 time will there be?
We believe the retreat, especially around selling and platform building, would be really helpful because it’s an important part of the non-fiction book deal process. There will be time to ask specific questions in the group where you can get feedback on your project.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, email me at hello@jadahsellner.com and ask away. I would love to support you in this next big step of realizing your own (or next) book dream.

Warm hugs,
