A Conversation on Heart Projects, Rest, and Play

Season 4 of the Lead with Love Podcast® is here!

To honor what I have the capacity for during this season of life, it’s been a joyful process to make the podcast a mini-season. I’m excited for you to hear conversations with some of my closest friends, team members, and mentors.

I’m still deep in writing mode for my book (which should be coming out in a year! #fingerscrossed). My current draft has over 88,000 words. They say writing is re-writing. So my chapters are like an accordion. As I write, re-write, edit, rearrange, the word count expands and contracts.

One tool that helps me while I write is: Tomato Timer. I set the timer for 25 minutes, and then take a break for 5 minutes. I’ve done as many as 22 pomodoros in a day. My friend and fellow #wordnerd, Nikki Elledge Brown, calls me a “Pom Queen.”

You can see how I track my pomodoros in my journal. When I worked on Chapter 4 last week, I did 12 pomodoros two days in a row. Seeing my progress and how much I’ve done grounds me and keeps me focused.

A Conversation on Heart Projects, Rest, and Play

A heart project really is about the work that your soul is calling you to do.”

– JADAH SELLNER

Welcome to Season 4 of the Lead with Love podcast.

In this episode I get cozy with my right hand of over 5 years, Michele. I share an update on my book writing process, my inner rebel, and how I deal with resistance. We also talk about productivity and why it’s okay to watch shows and still have time for meaningful work. We also explore where we are right now in the world, in our bodies and in our minds, and all the various shifts and uncertainties we’re still facing today.

What you'll hear (and don't want to miss!):

  • How I define a “heart project”, and what I’ve done to further the book writing process
  • The resistance I felt with writing this past September and what happened when I stepped back to gain perspective of it
  • The importance of having a coach or mentor in your corner
  • The ways you’ll know if it’s time to keep pushing or to step back and play more
  • My own practices for creating a “play menu” to feel liberated during this season of life
