Today, Iâm excited to share a new conversation on the Lead with Love podcast with my dear friend and book coach Azul Terronez. One big takeaway from this episodeâŠ
Dreams take time.
Hereâs a timeline of my book-writing journey:
» 2014:
- Met my literary agent (who I wouldnât reach out to for 4 years)
» 2018:
- I had a conversation with my literary agent in the summer saying I was ready to write a business book
» 2019:
- Worked on my book proposal
- Paused halfway through the year when my father, dog, and brother passed away in a span of 6 months to give myself space to grieve
» 2020:
- Worked on book proposal again in spring 2020
- Finished proposal in November 2020
- Got a book deal with Harper Business in December 2020
» 2021:
- Wrote several revisions of the manuscript (including developmental editing)
» 2022:
- Edited the manuscript (line editing, copyediting, first/second/third pass)
- Recorded audiobook in August
Now She Builds is complete and will soon be in your hands in a few weeks!
Remember⊠donât put a timeline on your dreams; put a timeline on your actions. Be compassionate with yourself because life happens and you'll need to ask for more time and extend dates to honor your whole life. Dreams take time to ripen.
Trust youâre right where you need to be. Whatever youâre building right now will be worth the wait.
